1. On Better Days
I love you and I don’t want to lose you. Because my life has been better since the day I found out. ~ Unknown
Finding someone we love is usually preceded by being afraid to lose them. And that’s human nature. Nobody wants to lose something or someone so precious. Because fact is, sometimes, we are so lost in this world that when we find someone who leads us to better days, we know that someone is special. We know she’s our compass, and losing her would be the last thing we want. Love works mysteriously like that sometimes.
2. Dorothy Sayers on Coming Home
We all have our differences and similarities but when we found the one, those similarities and differences seem to blend in with the picture, making a more gorgeous masterpiece. Finding love is more than finding beauty in life or knowing that a good life is indeed possible. Finding love is also finding rest and calm even in the midst of the storm. It is knowing that home will always be a safe place for us to seek refuge.
3. Henry Wadsworth on Loving So Much
A hundred hearts would be too few to carry all my love for you. ~ Henry Wadsworth
When we say there’s not enough words to describe what love is and how it feels, perhaps we can also say there’s not enough hearts to carry our love for someone. Sometimes, like how Henry Wadsworth put it, there’s just so much love we have for someone that our hearts can’t carry it all. And a hundred hearts still aren’t enough. Yet, we still carry as much love as we can, because human hearts work like that, just so wonderfully.
4. Dr. Seuss on Discovering a Better Reality
You know you’re in love when you don’t want to fall asleep because reality is finally better than your dreams. ~ Dr. Seuss
One of the best things when in love is that we find it easier to appreciate life. We see the big and small things that we don’t used to see and we see its flaws and beauty all at once. Love slowly turns our reality into something so grand and magical that we don’t have to retreat to dreaming. When in love, everything doesn’t have to be perfect, because we’re with the perfect someone and we know we can make it.
5. Andre Breton on Knowing Yourself More
Love is when you meet someone who tells you something new about yourself. ~ Andre Breton
Andre Breton is on point with this. It is a fact that through time, through growing in to this world and experiencing, we get to know ourselves better. But it’s also a fact that we have so much in us that sometimes, someone has to point it out to us. And more often than not, it’s a great experience, to get to know yourself better through someone you love dearly, and discover that your flaws and shortcomings are accepted too.
6. Harry Burns on Living the Rest of Your Life
When you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible. ~ Harry Burns
Being with someone special is so much more than feeling happy and alive. The thing about love is that it completes us gradually in a way we don’t even know we need to be completed. Because some cracks and missing puzzle pieces don’t get noticed easily. So when we find this special someone, all we want is spend the rest of our lives right now. Because we know, despite the uncertainty, that it will be a good life.
7. Alfred Tennyson on the Beauty of Forever
If I had a flower for every time I thought of you… I could walk through my garden forever. ~ Alfred Tennyson
Many people tend to steer away from the word forever because it bears so much for us to deal with. Forever always seems to be this grand thing making us feel so small. But when we find the person who loves us completely and whom we love just as much, forever isn’t something to fear anymore. It becomes this colourful path we can walk on day and night and still be safe. That’s something beautiful.
8. Scott Adams on Cuteness, Fun, and Simplicity
I love you like a fat kid loves cake. ~ Scott Adams
More often than not, we see love as this serious relationship thing. And yes, it does need to be serious. But being in love also means being able to laugh even at small things. Being truly in love with someone means being able to describe it even without the cheesy metaphors but still make sense. Because we all need a good laugh and that can happen only when we love someone so much being silly and goofy with them is a normal thing.
